During the last week of September, we celebrated Tetris Week at Mammutico. Every day, we posted aerial photos of our sets on our social media channels. Read on to find out what the #tetrischallenge is and how it came to be at our company.
When it comes to block-based computer games, Tetris is second to none! Inspired by Tetris’s visual style, a Zurich police squad, at the end of 2019, showed the contents of their patrol car (including two officers) in a bird’s-eye view. Many different institutions and companies soon took up the challenge. And since we at Mammutico love challenges, games, and of course blocks, we decided to join in the fun!
On your marks, get set, go!
The photos took quite a while to create—several months, in fact. It all started with the “Mini” series—during a big packing session, with the camera taped to the ceiling and using a self-timer. But that small scale was only possible with our smallest blocks. To take it further, we needed… a drone! Fortunately, with the help of our friend Kuba Odechowski (we recommend http://dron-film.pl/), the next three sessions went smoothly and quickly (meaning the drone flew up and down quickly, because arranging the bricks is a bit of a demanding operation). Over the course of a few weeks, we shot the “Simple” series (on the terrace), “Smart” (on the lawn), and “Perfect” (on the school playground). This variety of settings is no accident! We wanted to ensure a variety of shots and show how well Mammutico blocks work in many different environments. This exploration also led us to the Basic (in the living room) and Smartblock (in the garden pool) sessions. The only sets our camera missed were Connect and Kulodrom—we produce these series less frequently and only for specific orders. So we wanted to share with you what we already have, and we’ll photograph the missing sets at the earliest opportunity.
Why all this fun?
Where did the idea for such an unusual product photo shoot even come from? We produce “Mammutico” blocks in many different shapes and sizes, and for most series, you can choose from sets in several sizes. We wanted to take photos that show all the elements of our sets—so you can easily assess their size and compare different variants. I don’t know about you, but in our opinion, mission accomplished!
