Swimming is one of the best forms of physical activity. Anyone can swim—young and old alike! This sport is also accessible to those who are unable to engage in other forms of physical exercise.

Swimming is the best form of exercise! It’s a great stretching and relaxing workout, strengthens the lungs and heart, reduces swelling, and tones the body. What’s more, when practicing this sport, we don’t put strain on the musculoskeletal system, and the effort is distributed evenly throughout the entire body.

For children with posture problems, the benefits are twofold, as exercises in water have a positive effect on proper spinal alignment.

Even those who can’t swim can go to the pool. Simply moving in the water has a beneficial effect on health and well-being, and it doesn’t have to be intense exercise at all.

Ideas for pool fun

Parents who want their little ones to feel comfortable in the water start taking them to the pool when they’re four months old or even earlier. Playing in the water helps with motor coordination, so in addition to the benefits at the pool, you’ll notice that your child starts crawling sooner, has better motor skills, and—what’s more—gets sick less often!

“The best toy is one that leaves room for a child’s imagination.” — Jolanta Papuga, SI therapist

But what about older children who haven’t gotten used to the water earlier and are now afraid of going to the pool? In this situation, it’s best to start by playing together. If we start the pool adventure with a strict swimming lesson using a kickboard from one end of the pool to the other, we may only discourage the little one from continuing to learn. We need to give them time to start entering the water freely. Not only floating toys but also those that require diving under the water to retrieve will come in handy for play. Additionally, competitions like a race to the edge or a contest to see who can splash the most water with their feet work great. After a few visits to the pool to get used to the environment, the child will be ready to start learning.

Water Safety

Among pool gadgets, you’ll most often find Styrofoam boards, foam noodles, arm floats, rings, or flippers. These are, of course, important items, but we’re suggesting something completely different!

Mammutico Aqua foam blocks are sets designed specifically for water play. Large floating mats, big wafers, soft cubes, and long noodles help children overcome their fear of getting wet. All the elements of the set connect, letting the imagination run wild. Once in the water, children begin to create creative structures, using both their physical and intellectual skills.

At that moment, the fun of “building” takes over, leaving fears of getting wet far behind. Absorbed in the possibility of constructing, little ones quickly gain the confidence to move in the water and, at the same time, become familiar with the environment where the fun takes place.

We invite you to check out our sets of giant foam blocks designed for water play. Remember that each set can be freely modified and expanded as needed, and every type of our foam blocks works great both at home, in the garden, and at the pool.
