Conducting tests of the PERFECT sets in a preschool setting to assess the difficulty level of the instructions, how children respond to them, and their usefulness in educational work. The activities were to include both building according to instructions and free play with the pieces.
Children aged 5–6.
Room up to 30 square meters. The need to tidy up the pieces each time after playtime. Limited space for storing the pieces.
The workshops took place as part of regular preschool classes, which limited the time available to complete full structures. The participants were preschool-aged children, so teacher support was necessary during more complex construction stages. The tests were conducted during the summer break, which required a flexible schedule and adapting activities to the preschool’s daily routine.
Customer feedback:
The children really liked the PERFECT blocks—from the very first class, they sparked great interest and enthusiasm. The very possibility of choosing a structure was a major attraction for the preschoolers. The most excitement was generated by large, impressive structures, such as a sphere, an igloo, or a train, as well as the Palace of Culture, which the children knew very well and happily recreated in their own version.
Structures that could be used for further play also deserved special recognition—cars, scooters, and various vehicles immediately became part of new scenarios created by the children.
To fully utilize the set’s capabilities—such as connecting, twisting, or bending—a brief introduction showing how the individual elements work was sufficient. After this presentation, the children experimented independently with form and connection methods.
Some of the more complex structures required more time, so we worked on them over the course of several sessions. This allowed the children to return to their constructions and finish them without rushing, which strengthened their sense of agency and engagement.
Instructions with a simpler structure worked perfectly when working with preschoolers, and during more detailed stages, the teacher’s help allowed every child to succeed.
Free play after construction was just as valuable for the children—it allowed them to develop their imagination, collaborate, and come up with their own solutions. The activities with PERFECT blocks proved to be an inspiring experience for both the children and us.
Teachers from the “Sadowa Jedynka” preschool in Pruszków
The PERFECT kits were tested at the “Jedynka” private preschool in Pruszków. The project lasted one month and included regular summer classes led by the preschool’s teachers. Each caregiver received a copy of the instructions with space for notes and conducted the classes according to a set program. The children built structures of varying difficulty levels, and their reactions and challenges were observed to verify the quality of the materials. In addition to working with the instructions, time was set aside for free play with the elements, which allowed us to observe how the children independently experimented with the shape and flexibility of the material.
The findings from the tests were used to develop the final version of the PERFECT manual and to refine the difficulty level of individual instructions.
„Dzieciom bardzo spodobały się klocki PERFECT – od pierwszych zajęć budziły ogromne zainteresowanie i entuzjazm. Już sama możliwość wyboru konstrukcji była dla przedszkolaków dużą atrakcją. Najwięcej emocji wzbudzały duże, efektowne budowle, takie jak kula, igloo czy ciuchcia, a także Pałac Kultury, który dzieci doskonale znały i z radością odtwarzały w swojej wersji."
