What will you find in the Mammutico workshop scenarios?
Mammutico® large blocks are an endless source of free play, but it’s the workshop scenarios that turn them into an effective educational tool. They provide support for adults—offering structure, inspiration, and ideas that help children develop in many ways.
How to use the workshop scenarios?
When we launched the first Mammutico sets a few years ago, we already knew these were blocks designed for creative, interesting, smart, and at the same time wild play. When testing the first set from the SMART line with children, we saw the joy that playing with such large pieces brings. The ability to build something truly massive and the freedom to do so were the biggest draws for the kids. They didn’t need instructions or adult help to create something amazing.
So why add scenarios if the children have so much fun without them? This tool is necessary for us, the adults. We need them to structure playtime, bring order and structure, and find inspiration for conducting activities. Above all, however, activities properly conducted based on the scenarios we’ve prepared can encourage children to develop creative skills, learn through adventure, and collaborate with the group.
The game suggestions we’ve prepared for the SMART and SIMPLE large block sets aren’t step-by-step instructions guiding us through each stage of play. Instead, they serve as thoughtful guidance and inspiration. A brief introduction to each workshop aims to transport children into a world of imagination centered on a specific theme. After that, everything is left up to the participants. The facilitator’s role is to guide the children’s work, offer advice during the building process, and maintain order. The facilitator is more of a companion, observer, and good advisor than an active participant.
Who are these scenarios recommended for?
Each workshop helps children develop a range of social skills and gain knowledge on various topics from the world around us. This information is included in the summary of each activity. This allows the facilitator to select topics appropriate for the group’s needs. For example, if the class isn’t very cohesive, it’s worth suggesting activities based on cooperation. We also offer activities focused on developing creativity, managing emotions, overcoming the fear of public speaking, coping with anxiety, memory exercises, physical movement, and many other valuable skills that support children’s development.
Our library contains two sets of workshop scenarios in Polish and English. Each set includes 20 activities designed for a specific line of blocks. SMART blocks offer more construction possibilities and allow for the creation of more complex structures. SIMPLE blocks, on the other hand, have other advantages: they make it easy and quick to build truly large structures, mazes, tunnels, and the little houses that children love.
The play scenarios included with the SMART and SIMPLE foam block sets are the perfect tool for activity leaders and teachers. With the help of educators and specialists who work with children on a daily basis, we can create a custom-themed play set upon request to assist in organizing activities at your facility. We look forward to working with you!
